You don’t have to get the courts involved with a tenant-landlord issue thanks to free mediation services offered by the Housing Stabilization Collaborative and Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority in partnership with Building Peace, Inc.

Why landlords and tenants love mediation:
  • No cost to landlord or tenant.
  • Opportunity to preserve, repair, or improve landlord-tenant relationship.
  • Potential to connect with financial incentives for landlord and additional supports for the tenant.
  • Prevents eviction record for tenants. Eviction records can make it exceedingly difficult to qualify for rental housing.

“Often it is difficult for landlords and tenants to see eye to eye or to connect in a positive manner. Mediation can be a great tool to help both parties hear each other’s concerns and develop an agreement that meets the needs of the moment.”
